Protection
Over the past several years the trojan, nuking, pinging, bombing, and all the other Internet attacking methods have increased drastically over the past year. Hence it is wise and should be a norm to find protection for your PC. Here Caution Tech. has set up a web page dedicated to protecting your PC from all hacking techniques. Here Caution Tech. has designed a step by step procedure from most important to least
I.
Anti Virus Software
To begin with, every PC should
have an Anti Virus program. Most Anti Virus programs now
have the ability to update themselves through the Internet to
keep the PC safe from virii. Caution Tech. suggests all
users to either buy or download Norton Anti Virus 5.0
and/or Cybermedia GuaprotectionrdDog 2.0.
These two programs both detect Trojan patches and programs.
Cybermedia GuardDog however has the ability to enable and disable
programs to access the Internet before they do. GuardDog
also has many other functions those such as cookie detection and
a lot of other Internet Guardian functions. Refer to the
table below for functions of the two programs.
Norton Anti Virus 5.0 | Cybermedia GuardDog 2.0 |
Live Update | Live Update (Cybermedia Oil Change needed) |
Faster Virus Scanner | Standard Virus Scanner |
Stronger Virus scanner
for hard drive (Larger Virii Encyclopedia) |
More protection for Hard Drive (File Guardian, Identity Protection, Cookie Protection, and Password Protection) |
Lack of Internet Guardian | Powerful Internet Guardian |
Standard Virus Application effects | Cool sound effects and images |
II.
Trojan Scanners
If strange occurrences have been
happening to your computer, you have been downloading underground
files, or many people have sent you files over the net.
It's just safe to use a Trojan scanner. Although the virus
scanners above have the ability to scan for trojan patches, if
you don't have access to these programs it is safe to use smaller
programs to find trojan patches in your PC. There are a lot
of Trojan scanners but most are very useless. Some people
get paranoid, thus they download various Trojan scanners for each
Trojan Application. However Caution Tech. has selected the
best programs to download to scan and delete trojans.
Program | Information | Download |
Cleaner 2.0 Beta | This scanner is a 30 Day trial version. It scans for all trojan patches and asks to deletes them. | Download |
The Cleaner | Scanner is the same as the above but the previous version. | Download |
III.
Nuke Protection
No one should need nuke
protection. Caution Tech. has not even bothered to set up
Downloads for nuke protection. If you still get nuked get
Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0 or later. The reason why
people could nuke each other was because of a port error in the
Windows 95 and lower systems. It's also wise to get Windows
98 or the NT 4.0 so that you can keep on updating your Windows
system version through Microsoft Online.
IV. Netbus (Removing the
Patch)
If you think that you have the
Netbus patch installed in your computer there is the manual
method of removing it or the automatic method. The easy
method is to simply download a Trojan scanner listed in the
above. Or you could remove it by going into your system
folder. Here's how to do it this way:
1. Open your C Drive
2. Open the folder Windows
3. Now look for the patch. The patch's icon will usually be in the form of either a torch or a satellite. The name may vary though. The name depends on what you installed it as.
If you think that your getting Netbused now, then quickly press Ctrl-Alt-Del. This will pop up an application window. All running applications (exe) are logged here. So if you find something mysterious then click End Task.
Tips
1.
After a file download in the Internet always run a Virus check.
2. Netbus's Patch is
approximately 494 KB. So if someone says that it's an Anti
Nuke patch or ICQ patch don't accept it.
3. Don't be curious and
open any applications if you aren't sure what it is.
4. Run Anti-Virus software
once a month.
5. Get good back-up
software and use it. If your Hard Drive is messed up it
will take months to get it as it was.
6. Get a program such as an
Uninstaller. The best ones are Quarterdeck Cleansweep 4.0,
Cybermedia Uninstaller, or Norton Uninstaller 1.0. You'll
need it when you have installing errors or other pains.
7. Get a program such as
Mcafee Safe and Sound which will look at how your system is
running
8. Be Cautious and do not
bother trusting anyone
